Point of Sale Window
The system allows up to 3 pos (point of sale) windows to be open at the same time. To open a pos window just hit the "POS" button on the Main window.
More than one open pos window are sometimes needed because a sale is held up and there are other customers waiting to be served. If your shop, such as a neighbourhood grocery store, does not bother to issue sale receipts, a constantly open pos window can also be used to quickly process the sale of regular single items like newspapers and drinks without ever closing the receipt until the end of the day. At the same time, you will still be using another pos window to process other transactions.
Another version of POSI uses a single pos window but enables the cashier to hold open sale receipts and retrieve them later. This is similar to the F & B version which allows for unlimited hold based on table and guest numbers.
Shown below is a screenshot of the pos window. You need to login as a cashier - not Admin user - to enable its functions. Enter "user", the initial password. The system allows you to launch up to 3 pos windows by clicking the "POS" button on the main window. Multiple pos windows enables you to hold a sale in progress while you proceed with another.
Single shortcut keys have been implemented for numerous functions on the pos window. If there is such a shortcut key you will see it next to the function name e.g. Barcode (F1), Deduct Item (F3).
In the case of Cash (Esc) pressing ESC shows the total amount due for cash payment. If there is rounding adjustment initially set in Required Settings, then a 'Cash/Card' checkbox next to the Due button above the barcode box will be visible. By unselecting this checkbox the amount due for card payment will be shown.
The right panel has quite a number of checkboxes enabling you to implement different types of discounts that are apart from pre-set seasonal, quantity and promotional discounts.Other checkbox functions - like the ability to enter comment into a receipt during sale closure, forcing the submission of the transaction no. for card payment and warning shortage with a prompt during sale - will also be welcomed by retailers and wholesalers.
At the end of the day, when generating the Sales Summary an extra "Denomination Count Window" will appear to assist the cashier to count the collection in the cash drawer and verify if it tallies with the Sales Summary. See screenshot.
There is an option to display a number pad at all times - see next screenshot. This is useful especially when a touch screen monitor is used. The cashier can use this on-screen number pad during sale.
With a programmed barcode scanner, sale can be greatly speeded up such that no matter where the cursor is, you just have to scan a barcode and it will be accepted as a transaction. This effortless sale process can be crucial in fast-moving business like a supermarket. To further speed up the sale entry, you can request for a version in which monetary amount does not require decimal point entry by the cashier. For example to enter $20.00 tendered by the customer, type 2000 and the program will take it as 20.00.

The standard software also comes with an optional functionality that starts a slideshow window when a pos window is opened. This slideshow window displays the sale information from the active pos window. This extra window can also display your advertisements.
You can do this by setting at this slideshow window a target folder containing the photos of your products and they will be presented in a slideshow fashion to the customer.
By having an extra LCD monitor connected to your PC, this slideshow window can be dragged over to that monitor for customers to view. This is similar in function to a price display pole but with the added advantage of running advertisements.

Since the price of a LCD monitor is about the same as a pole display this feature should be welcome.
Some graphics cards in PCs and laptops already come with such a dual display functionality, allowing the user to set up more than one monitor with different displays. Otherwise you need to install a fairly cheap graphics card for such a purpose.
